  • Lux 11 – Berlin’s original boutique hotel.  Philippe Starck in style but rather lacks the substance and swish of the Sanderson, and the service isn’t particularly friendly, however, you can’t beat the location (Rosa-Luxembourg Strasse 9-13, Mitte / t: +49 30 936 2800 /www.lux-eleven.com).
  • Soho House Berlin – Great location with a rooftop area (pool, bar, resto) and fab views across the city so well suited to a summer stay.  Food is good, standard Soho House fare (Torstrasse 1, 10119 Berlin / t: +49 30 4050 440 / www.sohohouseberlin.com).
